River Dolphin in the Body

Astrid Cabral

It flows in the depths of the body, a dark river

of muddied waters and deep desires

ancestral lymph midst furriness and urgency.

In it dwells a river dolphin, ready for the leap,

and it attacks so other rivers may be spawned

and life may not abort, but gush, gush forth forever.
