Jesus’s act was political. He should have looked first to the fig tree: if the fig tree had looked at Jesus with equal or greater celerity he would have stopped on the road and become her hostage. And the history of humanity would have been other. Inconceivable. Animism? Pantheism?
Jesus literally nipped the evil in the bud. So that he would not witness on Earth the aberrant nuptials.
